Six Hour Startup

in Upcoming Events

“In the span of 6 short hours, people can try on (and discard) product ideas, business partners, and specific roles within a team. Interactions like this are how almost all great startups are born– and Six Hour Startup
has bottled it up and delivers it in a fun package. There’s nothing else like it in Seattle.” Tony Wright, founder Rescuetime.com

Six Hour Startup is a bi-monthly event where we try to build a new product in the course of Six Hours. We also have an annual conference which focuses on the fundamentals of building a company. Check out our Frequently Asked Question page for more details. link

Our next event is going to be in March and its focus is going to be on finding co-founders for a new company.

The next Six Hour Startup will be at 2pm this Sunday (1/25) at Collins Pub.

Andrew Woods will be leading a project to build a “tweetup” organizer, so those of us on Twitter (who isn’t?) have a more convenient way to meet in person and converse in more than 140 characters. Right now tweetups are almost always organized *on* Twitter, which is not the most convenient place for keeping track of events.

October 19th Six Hour Startup.net

by roberte3 on October 13, 2008

in Upcoming Events

On October 19th Six Hour Startup is embarking on our first .NET project and we need your help. As you may or may not know, Six Hour Startup is the frequent event where we attempt to build a potentially commercial project in a fun hands-on environment. You don’t have to be an expert, just willing to have fun and try something new.

We have a number of ideas for the Oct 19th project, but want to hear yours as well.

Please submit your ideas to http://sixhourstartup.ideascale.com/.  The projects should be fun, engaging and within the ability of a team to complete within six hours.  Previous projects have been TimeLope, a
Facebook Application, a lunch site, etc.  The ideas for the projects come from you, and its up to you to vote on a project that you think would be fun to do.

Feel free to join the Six Hour Startup mailing list to follow our projects and get involved.

Microsoft has generously offered to host the next Six Hour Startup, so rather than it being held at Giraffe Labs it is going to be held on the Microsoft campus in Redmond Washington. The event will be held in their Platform Adoption Center (Which is building 20 on this map).

Microsoft’s Page for the building is located here, includes a different map and driving directions.

Clear your calendars the next Six Hour Startup Project is happening March 8th and 9th at the SODO Saturday House!

We are building a firefox extension that tracks which webpages are visited, and sends the URLS to a tracking service built using Seaside. This will enable people to surf each others histories, and perhaps will allow co-surfing of webpages.
